Biography

Dana Montlack focuses on observing the microcosms in her world and herself which are revealed enigmatically through the layers of her work.

Dana is drawn by her senses, combined with her need to understand things or see beyond the surface. She has been working on hybridizing animate objects which she narrows in then distorts and magnifies the image. Her idea is to delay time and view from the microscope’s edge. While revealing, her art is yet veiled.

Montlack received her B.F.A. in sculpture from the University of California Santa Cruz. She received her M.F.A. from Otis Parsons School of Art. Since 1987, Montlack has been a teacher and a working artist. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries nationwide.
